SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy – KPT Micro Hydro
The KPT Community Microhydro is one of Dumfries and Galloway’s most exciting community-led projects, helping to provide power to the local communities of Keir, Penpont and Tynron with clean green energy. Local volunteers from the micro hydro welcome schools and college visits to the site to learn all about how the hydro works and its contribution to green energy generation. The site also has a herb spiral, and two raised beds growing vegetables for all to help themselves. The KPT Community Microhydro plays and will play a major part in Dumfries and Galloway’s push towards Scotland’s Net Zero ambitions, as well as addressing the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal 7 – ‘Affordable and Clean Energy’.
