Cairn Holy chambered cairns
These two prehistoric tombs are situated on open land overlooking Wigtown Bay. Local legend asserts that King Galdus is buried here. The site is within easy reach of the A75 and makes for a pleasant walk along farm tracks.

Threave Castle was built by Archibald The Grim in the 14th century and was a stronghold for the Black Douglases. Today the surrounding estates are a haven for wildlife and the location of an ambitious landscape restoration project.
